At Sandringham Game and Country Fair we offer the very best in family entertainment, with something for every age!
Fiery Jack and his Circus Workshop
Fiery Jack, our favourite jester will be back with us, despite causing havoc at last year’s Sandringham Game and Country Fair. You may see him rowing about the site in his boat with a leaky bottom (or whatever this season’s favourite mode of transport is), or possibly attempting to enter the fun dog show with his pet dragon, standing on his head while falcons fly over him (so they can’t lay eggs in his hair) or trying to persuade the horse-boarders to let him hitch hike…
You may also be treated to the Fiery Jack Show – featuring juggling from around the world, fire breathing and general silliness!
We are also delighted to have back the fabulous Fiery Jack Games Emporium. A magical oasis is the busy-ness of the show when you can stop and play games from down the ages as well as a few modern day favourites. Try quoits or chess, skittles or giant size jenga. Or maybe something you have never heard of before. There is a team of expert game players on hand to explain the rules and lay down a challenge. And for the more studious you can even read about the history! Popular with both the young and the young at heart, be careful to watch the time or you may find you stayed much longer than you intended! (no extra admission charge – completely free!)
Come and meet Fiery Jack and his friends. Guaranteed a laugh.
Come and have a flutter on our ferrets! These speedy (and rather adorable) little creatures race in heats of four to be the first through the tunnels, over the see-saw and to emerge, fully, at the other end. Will it be Treacle this year? Or is Gizmo going to hang on to his lead? Maybe it’s Toffee’s year?
Great family entertainment and strangely addictive; once you have arrived you will definitely want to see who wins!
Towy Vale Hamsters
Come and see and meet the Towy Vale hamsters in their own marquee. We have various hamsters on display to show you what colours and types of Hamster are now available. Not only can you get FREE information leaflets about all aspects of keeping a hamster but there are many hamster club members who will answer your questions or give advice.
Many of these experts have been keeping hamsters for over twenty years and are regular exhibitors at Hamster Shows.
Also in the marquee are display boards photos of many of the more unusual colours and types of hamster, photos of babies hamsters from one day old to thirty-seven days old, photos taken by our members of hamsters (both babies and adults) in all sorts of situations.
If you are interested in acquiring a “pedigree” hamster these are the people to ask.
The best in traditional English family entertainment! Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs. You would think they might
have learnt that the wolf is always behind them! Fantastic puppet displays from a master entertainer. You cannot help but be drawn into the fun – especially if you have children with you!
Pinxton Puppets will be in the Countryside Arena at Burghley Game and Country Fair
Make and Take
Family entertainment means it’s fun time for kids!
Children love the Make and Take stand were they can do a variety of activites and make something to take home and treasure. From paint a pot and sand art to making a necklace !
The pots supplied are already fired, so children can just decorate them to their own taste. Pots are decorated using vibrant colours. Tiles are provided too and they are air dried clay tiles 15 x15cm. The tiles are decorated using a variety of impress stanps and stencils and dry at home over 2 days, having been painted using acrylics or poster colours. The final step of varnishing uses a mixture of PVA glue (50%) and water (50%). The finished tiles can be framed
They can make necklaces as well using large ceramic beads which are decorated with vibrant acrylic markers. The beads are threaded together on brightly coloured elastic.
Children can learn how to throw a pot and then make a pot on the pottery wheel as well. A great favourite!
Other craft workshops include: sand art, card making and candle making.
All the fun of the fair with our fun house and bouncy castles; you might also want to try panning for gold or hooking a duck!
An old favourite and not to be missed!
Across the Show
Plenty more family entertainment show wide, with opportunities for the children to have a free falconry session; twenty minute angling lesson; help the blacksmiths at their work; enter the fun dog show with the family pet (special classes for junior handlers and adults welcome in the ring); have a go at archery or with the air rifles and of course enjoy the stunning area displays throughout the day.
